A Glasgow restaurateur has been named Scotland's Curry King.
Balbir Singh Sumal, who owns Balbirs in the City's West End, lifted the title at last night's Scottish Curry Awards.
It was one of four awards scooped by Glasgow's renowned Indian restaurant sector at the prestigious event, which was hosted by Bryan Burnett.
The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Ali Ahmed Aslam who launched the Shish Mahal, one of the city's original curry houses, on Gibson Street more than 40 years ago.
Still a much-loved institution, the Shish has now relocated to Park Road.
The Ashoka in Elderslie was named team of the year and Jaffar Hussian of Kabana was named Chef of the Year.
The winners were presented with their awards at a glittering ceremony in the City's Marriott Hotel where guests included Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon.
First Minister Alex Salmond was named Curry Lover of the Year and the Best Supermarket Curry of the year was awarded to Asda.
Scotland's curry awards are considered to be among the most prestigious in the country with several of the nominees having previously picked up British titles.
